There were so many gems in this post... Thanks for sharing it! It really resonates, reaching for perfection to avoid fear it has being a constant in my life until recently. It is a difficult habit to leave behind, but I can see now how has protected me in the past. Never thought about it as a fear response...

I’m currently working through a “Season of Self-Rooting” plan I created with ChatGPT using a pretty large data set explaining my current struggles and mental health history. Learning to be authentically myself after a lifetime of perfectionism and making myself small is the greatest challenge I’ve ever faced! It’s so damn important though! Thanks for your perspective.

Wow, that's quite powerful. It must have taken a lot of energy to put that plan together.

And I hear you, unlearning perfectionism and stepping into your full, authentic self after years of shrinking down isn’t easy, but as you said, it’s deeply meaningful work.

Keep going. You’re worth every bit of this journey.

I work in retail and it's been revolutionary to set boundaries. Most people have the expectation of workers being a drive-by for getting something aka an unreciprocal need factory.

This is so true. People treat workers like transactional tools rather than human beings with needs of their own. I’m really sorry you’ve had to experience that. It’s amazing to hear how setting boundaries has helped you protect your space. Way to go!
